Beginner’s luck is real

and that’s excellent news

How frustrating is it to see a beginner shatter hours of hard work in one go? All your sweat and tears gone by someone who barely knows the rules.

“It’s just beginner’s luck,” we say. Or in other words, I refuse to believe you’re gifted.

Witnessing someone’s innate superiority is very hard to handle. It suddenly blows the myth that everything is possible.

But a truth remains. One I must tell you.

Some people have innate abilities that no amount of hard work can replace. This is the profound inequality of life. And we can do nothing about it.

But that’s not really “beginner’s luck,” is it?

Some people excel initially but don’t show long-term talent. And there’s a reason for this:

When you know nothing about a subject, your mind is free from assumptions.

You’re more flexible, exploring paths never explored before.

In most cases, you simply make mistakes, don’t follow the rules, and suffer from a lack of experience. But for the other minority, you surprise your enemies with unexpected genius moves.

I’ll give you an example that illustrates this effect.
