Dealing with Sabotage in Social Interactions
How to respond to sneaky humiliation in social situations
People will always attempt to sabotage your life’s narrative to assert dominance.
They will try their best to portray an image of you to others that suits them.
Often, this involves sneaky actions intended to humiliate you in order to appear superior in the interaction.
Why?
To win girls. To win professional opportunities. To get ahead in zero-sum game competitions.
Their technique is usually simple to uncover.
In group settings, they’ll tell incomplete or modified stories that make you appear foolish or boring. Although they may try to pass it off in a light tone, make no mistake, this is a declaration of war.
You might feel compelled to confront them, thinking that as friends, they need to hear the truth.
But never do this.
If you do get angry and enter the realm of seriousness, they will probably brush it off as a joke. As a result, you appear suspect to other as it seems you’re trying to hide something. And they come off as cool and honest.
Stay cool. Laugh with them.
